Professors Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein have reflected much on how to restore the “lost art of disagreement” in the time since they were pushed out of long-time professorships at Evergreen State College by bullying protests. They argue that to the extent that weaponized protest against dissent becomes the norm in a divided America, our society risks becoming more a battleground than a place for thoughtful and sensitive discourse in academia, media, and workplaces.
